The Jaguar XJR-12

One of the defining prototypes of the early 1990s, built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing for Jaguar’s Group C and IMSA campaigns. Powered by a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12, it delivered immense speed and endurance reliability. The car’s greatest triumph came in 1990 at the 24 Hours of Daytona, where it secured an overall victory, further cementing Jaguar’s legacy in sports car racing after back-to-back Le Mans wins with its predecessors.

Tamiya immortalized this legend in their Group C chassis series, pairing scale-accurate body shells with a lightweight, direct-drive rear-wheel platform. Known for simplicity and efficiency, the Group C chassis captured the long, low silhouettes of endurance prototypes while delivering high straight-line speed and stable handling. The XJR-12 body was one of the highlights of the series, with its sweeping curves and distinctive Jaguar livery translating beautifully to 1/10 scale.

Your build honors that racing history with a Tamiya XJR-12 in Daytona-winning spec. The iconic proportions of the Jaguar are faithfully represented, while the clean Group C chassis keeps it light and fast. With careful assembly and attention to detail, this model celebrates both Jaguar’s golden era of endurance racing and Tamiya’s ability to bring championship-winning machines to life in miniature form.
