Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II

One of the most celebrated touring cars of the early 1990s, built to homologate Mercedes’ entry into DTM. With its aggressive box flares, towering rear wing, and highly tuned four-cylinder engine, the Evo II became both a motorsport legend and a cult icon on the street. Its sharp lines and championship pedigree made it a natural subject for Tamiya’s RC touring car lineup.

Originally released on the TT-01 chassis, the model paired the iconic Evo II body with Tamiya’s durable shaft-driven 4WD platform. The first build was completed in PS-17 Metallic Green and powered by a brushed motor, but after a hard run left the chassis damaged beyond repair, the project was reborn. The body and concept carried forward into a new phase, upgraded for performance and longevity.

The car now sits on a TT-02 chassis with a brushless motor system for smoother power delivery and improved speed. Finished once again in metallic green, the body is mounted on a fresh setup featuring custom MST rims, giving the Evo II a more aggressive and modern stance. The result is a blend of classic DTM style and updated RC performance, carrying forward the spirit of the first build in an even sharper form.
