Built 2022
Mercedes-Benz Sauber C11
Made its debut in 1990 as the follow-up to the championship-winning C9. Built with a carbon-fiber monocoque and powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8, it delivered both durability and immense speed. Over the course of its racing life, the C11 became one of the most dominant Group C prototypes, helping Mercedes secure the 1990 World Sportscar Championship with commanding performances.
Tamiya offered the C11 on their streamlined Group C chassis, designed for efficiency and high-speed stability. With its lightweight direct-drive layout, simple suspension, and long-wheelbase proportions, the platform was an ideal match for the sleek endurance bodies of the era. The C11 body captured the low, sculpted lines of the original car, making it one of the standout shells in Tamiya’s Group C lineup.
This example is finished in PS-17 Metallic Green, a striking departure from the traditional silver Mercedes colors. Wearing the #2 race number, the deep metallic paint highlights the curves of the prototype while giving it a unique, custom presence. Paired with the Group C chassis, it blends historic endurance design with a bold, modern finish that sets it apart from the classic factory look.
