Peugeot 306 Maxi
A rally icon in the mid-to-late 1990s, competing in the F2 Kit Car category of the World Rally Championship. With its high-revving naturally aspirated engine, wide bodywork, and precision chassis setup, the 306 Maxi famously challenged and often defeated more powerful four-wheel drive rivals on tight and technical tarmac rallies. Its sharp handling and flamboyant design made it a fan favorite and one of Peugeot’s most memorable competition cars.
Tamiya recreated the 306 Maxi in 1/10 scale, offering it on the BT-01 chassis, a platform designed to replicate front-wheel drive handling dynamics. The BT-01 provided a simple yet effective layout for rally-style builds, while the polycarbonate body captured the flared arches, deep bumpers, and aggressive stance of the original Peugeot. Together, they delivered both scale accuracy and enjoyable driving character.
This example is finished in a bold yellow base with blue accents, presented without livery or sponsor decals for a clean and purposeful look. The bright color scheme highlights the 306’s distinctive rally-inspired bodywork, while the restrained finish emphasizes the car’s lines over competition graphics. The result is a fresh, understated take on one of the most recognizable F2 Kit Cars, blending Tamiya engineering with a minimalist aesthetic.
