Volkswagen Beetle

A global icon thanks to its approachable design, durability, and cultural presence. Among its many appearances in popular culture, none is more famous than Herbie, the anthropomorphic racing Beetle from Disney films. With its signature white paint, red and blue racing stripes, and number 53, Herbie became a beloved character that turned the humble Beetle into a star of the screen and racetrack alike.

This RC recreation uses Tamiya’s highly detailed Beetle body mounted on the XM-01 M-class rally chassis, delivering both scale accuracy and versatile performance. The chassis features 4WD and is powered by a Traxxas brushless motor, combining durability with smooth, rally-ready handling. The XM-01 provides the perfect platform to capture Herbie’s character while ensuring capable performance on a variety of surfaces.

Inside the car sits a 3D-printed interior of Shane and Gatsby, adding a fun, personal touch to this build. The iconic Herbie livery—complete with racing stripes and number 53—makes the Beetle instantly recognizable, while the detailed interior gives it charm and individuality. Together, the classic styling, capable chassis, and custom details create a unique RC version of one of cinema’s most famous cars.
