Classics Round 14: Classic Muscle

The Mustang and the Camaro

The air above the Vegas strip shimmered as the Classics machines rumbled onto the circuit — a 1970 Mustang Boss 302 for Shane and a bright-orange Camaro Z/28 for Tiara. The moment the lights went out, it was clear Shane had found something special in the Boss. The front end bit sharply into the turns, the tail stepped only when invited, and lap after lap he looked like a man communing with an old soul on four wheels.

Tiara’s Z/28, on the other hand, seemed determined to fight her. The rear snapped without warning, the nose washed wide under power, and every correction she made only seemed to agitate the car further. By lap five she was shaking her head angrily inside the cockpit.

Shane didn’t notice — or if he did, he never let it break his rhythm. He simply kept carving perfect arcs through the neon-lit corners, clocking a 9.004 best lap and cruising through the full 25 laps as if the car had been waiting decades for someone to drive it like this.

Tiara limped home 10 laps down, her Camaro giving her one last spiteful oversteer moment as if to prove a point.

It was dominance, pure and unfiltered.
