Classics Round 16: 5th Gen Camaro Comp Cars
The Camaros That Refused to Quit
The third race brought parity — two matching 5th-gen Camaro competition cars, two drivers with something to prove.
Shane took the early lead, his lines crisp and measured. Tiara clawed back with aggression, taking bigger bites out of each braking zone, flirting with the limits of grip. Early in the run she had a fall-off — a small one, but enough to cost her track position and momentum. She reset, refocused, and chased.
For the first half, Shane looked firmly in control. But Vegas has a way of humbling confidence.
With just under a minute to go, he carried too much speed through a fast chicane and the Camaro snapped into a half-spin — not a big one, but big enough. Tiara surged past, seizing the moment with the instincts of a fighter who knew the window wouldn’t stay open.
But because of her earlier off, neither driver knew who was ahead on effective time. They raced the final 30 seconds like two cars tethered by fate, neither willing to lift, both unsure of who would cross the line as the rightful victor.
In the end, Tiara won by just 3.456 seconds — a razor-thin margin in one of the Classics Series’ most dramatic finishes.
Her best lap: 8.200
Shane’s: 8.349
A win born from grit, persistence, and perfect timing.
