The Mazda 787B
One of the most celebrated prototypes in racing history, famous for its 1991 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Powered by the high-revving four-rotor R26B engine, it became the only rotary-powered car to ever win Le Mans, and the first Japanese manufacturer to take overall honors. Beyond its achievement, the car is remembered for its screaming exhaust note and its instantly recognizable colors on the world stage.
Tamiya captured this legend on their Group C chassis, pairing the sleek endurance silhouette with a lightweight direct-drive layout. Known for high straight-line speed and stability, the chassis was the perfect base to showcase famous long-tail prototypes. The 787B body is one of Tamiya’s most striking releases, with its multi-element wing and flowing lines faithfully rendered in 1/10 scale.
Your model proudly wears the iconic Renown orange and green livery with silver accents, the exact scheme carried by the Le Mans-winning #55 car. The vivid color blocking emphasizes the car’s aggressive aero lines and makes the body instantly recognizable, even in miniature. Combined with Tamiya’s Group C engineering, it’s both a celebration of endurance racing history and a showcase of one of motorsport’s most memorable designs.
