Porsche 956
One of the most successful endurance race cars ever built, developed by Porsche for Group C racing in the early 1980s. Powered by a turbocharged flat-six and featuring advanced ground-effect aerodynamics, the 956 dominated sports car racing, securing four straight victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1982 and 1985. Its combination of innovation, reliability, and speed made it a benchmark in endurance racing history.
Tamiya recreated the 956 on their lightweight Group C chassis, designed for high-speed stability and efficiency. With its direct-drive layout, long wheelbase, and simple suspension, the chassis was a perfect match for the sleek, low-profile body of the Porsche. The kit allowed builders to replicate the Le Mans–winning machine in 1/10 scale with impressive accuracy and performance.
This example was assembled to the exact kit instructions, finished in the #3 livery of the 1982 Le Mans–winning car. Adding to its realism, the model is equipped with working front and rear lights, making the 956 come alive both on display and in motion. It stands as a faithful RC tribute to Porsche’s first Group C champion and one of the most iconic prototypes to ever race at Le Mans.
